Only recently have activities, such as football, begun to present themselves as attractive sports for young girls wishing to participate in something athletic.Previously, the participation of the "weaker sex" in such a "harsh game" has been discouraged for a variety of reasons.Historically, females have not been expected to excel in physical feats...males were believed to be stronger, faster and naturally better athletes.However, today's highly trained female athlete is not much different from her male counterpart .Some of the problems in high schools and colleges consist of insufficient scholarships for girls, not enough coaching jobs, a lack of equipment, and a limited amount of supplies.Not only Even though institutions are required by law to meet one of those terms, a school rarely complies sufficiently with Title IX.They actively participate in activities that assist in developing their gender.

They see the rewards and accolades given to the accomplished athletes, not only at these levels, but at the collegiate and professional levels as well.

Education and mass media are powerful agents of socialization and play influential roles in the construction of masculinity and femininity.

Yet these could be the agents that break down these images and promote change within our society.

How is it fair that a men’s college basketball team is able to be transported on planes and dine on steak, while a women’s team from the same college, travels in a van and eats fast food?

It’s not, but this occurs often nowadays even with laws passed preventing this type of discrimination.
